Massage

Release endorphins, relieve stress, release pain, relax and feel better.

Remedial Massage

Remedial massage improves muscle and joint pain which can develop while you are at home, work or exercising. During your treatment deep massage strokes, muscle and nerve stretching and muscle release points are used to improve your blood circulation and muscular tone.

MassageBy reducing pain your quality of life is enhanced.
We may go through home exercises together which help to strengthen or relax your muscles.

Deep Tissue Massage

Deep tissue massage is a type of massage aimed at the deeper tissue structures of the muscle and fascia, also called connective tissue. Deep tissue massage uses many of the same movements and techniques as Swedish massage, but the pressure will generally be more intense. It is also a more focused type of massage, as the therapist works to release chronic muscle tension or knots (also known as "adhesions.")

Relaxation Massage

Relaxation massage involves long, broad, slow massage strokes and rocking.
This encourages your body to rest and restore.
Like remedial massage, it enhances your blood and lymph circulation, nourishes your body cells, relaxes your muscles and diminishes pain. Generally your entire body is treated although if you prefer, I focus on specific areas such as your head, feet, hands, and shoulders.

Aromatherapy

MassageEssential oils have great healing properties. When inhaled or placed on the skin they send messages to your brain creating mental, emotional and physical changes. For example:

              • lavender promotes relaxation
              • peppermint increases your energy levels
              • basil and wintergreen reduce your muscular aches and pains

Shiatsu

Shiatsu translates to “finger pressure” in Japanese. It is holistic healing system based on Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) principles.

Energy moves throughout your body through energy pathways known as meridians which are connected to specific organs. Disruption to this flow of energy may produce pain and stiffness, digestive, emotional and mental imbalances.

During a Shiatsu treatment your energy is rebalanced allowing your pain and symptoms to lessen. You are fully clothed during your treatment while your meridians and muscles are treated with broad palm pressure, stretching, finger pressure, holding and gentle joint rotations.

Shiatsu has exactly the same, if not more benefits than massage.

During a treatment your circulation is stimulated, your nervous system relaxes and your hormonal system can rebalance. Shiatsu is able to treat range of conditions ranging from muscular pain to menstrual difficulties, digestive conditions to anxiety.

During your treatment we may discuss dietary and lifestyle options that help to lessen your symptoms.

Hot stone massage

Hot Stone MassageHot stone massage is a variation on classic massage therapy. Heated smooth, flat stones are placed on key points on the body. The massage therapist may also hold the stones and use them to massage certain areas of the body.

The use of hot stones for healing dates back to ancient times, but it wasn't until Arizona massage therapist Mary Nelson introduced her hot stone massage technique, called LaStone Therapy, that the use of hot stones for massage caught on.

How Does Hot Stone Massage Work?

The hot stones are usually made of basalt, a type of rock that is rich in iron, so they retain heat. River rocks are normally used because they are so smooth - they have been smoothed over time by the river's current.

The stones are immersed in water and heated in an electric heating device until they are within a certain temperature range. The stones may be placed at specific points on the back, in the palms of the hand, or between the toes.

The heat warms and relaxes the muscles, which allows the therapist to apply deeper pressure, if desired.

The warmth of the hot stones improves circulation and calms the nervous system.

Some massage therapists place stones on points that are thought to be energy centers of the body to rebalance the body and mind.
