YogaBonnie Russell - Resonate Yoga

Resonate Yoga was created in 2001 with the mission statement that no matter who you are, where you come from your age or ability you can participate in and enjoy Yoga.

We have taught yoga to all ages from a baby as young as 4 weeks, through to a woman who had just turned 100, we have taught people who were so restricted in their bodies they couldn’t lie flat on the floor to sports groups training for the Olympics. We teach people not poses.

Resonate Yoga has taught in schools, offices, homes, yoga studios, hospitals, gyms and even outdoors among peacocks. We have yet to teach yoga in 0 gravity but if there were people in spaceships who were willing to give it a go we would find a way to teach yoga to them too.

Everyone’s daily lives can be enhanced by practicing yoga be it the bending, twisting, breathing, relaxing or connecting. Its all about finding a practice that resonates with you and helps create a feeling of comfort and ease within the body and mind so that you can not only function to the best of your ability but also perform at your peak.

Our bodies and minds are tools we use everyday so its important to keep them running as efficiently and effectively as possible.

Sure we like it when one of our students learns to stand on their heads but we like it better when a mother is able to get rid of her back pain and enjoy the simple act of picking up her child.

Resonate Yoga as a style of yoga pulls knowledge and experience from all other styles of yoga. We look at posture and alignment, working from the inside out so that you find a way of standing and moving that works for your individual physical body not the kind of posture and alignment that is copied from a picture or an external source. We do this by using knowledge in western anatomy and physiology as well as a grounding in eastern traditions. We teach effective and efficient ways of breathing and tools to help you relax on and off your yoga mat.

About Bonnie:

BonnieBonnie (Ad. Dip. Health (Yoga Teaching) has been teaching yoga since 2001. Bonnie has always had a fascination with movement, anatomy and physiology. Initially from a background in dance, Bonnie transitioned to yoga to diversify her interests in western anatomy with traditional eastern techniques. Her teaching style tends to have a strong focus on posture and correct alignment. She believes in teaching her students not only how to do the yoga poses correctly, but also how they might apply the principles of yoga into other aspects of their life.

Because of her interest in physiology, Bonnie is keenly interested in classes with a specific focus such as children’s classes, prenatal classes, postnatal classes and people with specific injuries.
